On December 13, 2008, an unprecedented event will take place at the Natural Bridge Hotel and Convention Center in Natural Bridge, VA. The Old Dominion Futurity will host a holiday party, futurity auction (live & silent), and the one and only Jim Aikman will be the keynote speaker.
A holiday buffet dinner, including complimentary wine, will be offered. A room will be available for the youth aged 12 and under, featuring activities geared towards the younger crowd. The hotel will be beautifully decorated, and special entertainment will be provided for the guests.
The live auction will feature some of the very best stallions in the Saddlebred industry. Other items to be auctioned include a bronze by DiMaro and many more. Brian Chappell of Perryville, KY will call the auction. Starting bids will be ½ of the stallion's normal fee. All of the stallions that have been donated for the auction will have their nomination fees paid, and the resulting offspring from the purchase of a breeding will be eligible to participate in the inaugural Old Dominion Weanling Classic, scheduled to be held at the ASHAV horse show in 2010. In addition, the Old Dominion Two year-old Classic will be added to the show schedule in 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to breed your mare to one of the best stallions in the industry, as well as receive a possible payback in 2010 AND 2012!
Jim Aikman, known by many as the “Million Dollar All American Man”, plans to pump fire, life and energy into the marketplace for the American Saddlebred. Guests will be challenged to “unlock the box” and do “everything they already know but do nothing about”. This is an exciting opportunity to gain a glimpse into the mind of one of the most entertaining and insightful promoters of the American Saddlebred, and guests will be able to pose questions to Mr. Aikman as well.
Trainers, owners, breeders and exhibitors are also invited to participate in “thumbnail interviews”. This has been Mr. Aikman’s ongoing project in an effort to record and preserve our valuable Saddlebred history for future generations. These interviews will be preserved on a DVD along with Mr. Aikman’s presentation, and offered for sale at a later date, with all proceeds benefitting the Old Dominion Futurity.
